Hi, I’m Sammy, a Registered Counsellor, award-winning Integrative Mindfulness Practitioner, and founder of The Still Space.

My Story

As a Trauma, Grief, and Anxiety Counsellor and Integrative Mindfulness Practitioner, I am deeply passionate about guiding individuals, children, teens, and families on their journey toward healing, wellbeing, and reclaiming their Still Space within.

I don’t just understand trauma and grief professionally, I have lived it. As a sexual abuse survivor, I know the deep, lasting impact trauma can have on the mind, body, and soul. I have faced the near loss of my firstborn, an experience that shook me to my core, and endured the sudden and unexpected death of my father. I have also walked alongside my mother and sister through their courageous battles with cancer, witnessing both their strength and the heartbreaking toll of illness. These experiences have shaped who I am and deepened my commitment to supporting others in their most difficult moments.

Being a wife and a mum of two, I understand that life is far from smooth sailing. My journey has taught me that while we cannot always control what happens to us, we do have the power to shape who we become, through awareness, self-compassion, and the deep honouring of our inner world. My purpose is to hold space for others as they navigate their own pain, helping them transform their wounds into wisdom and find light beyond the darkness.

I am a Registered and Accredited Counsellor with professional membership through the Australian Counselling Association, committed to evidence-based approaches and trauma-informed care. A lifelong learner, my journey has taken me from degrees in Arts and Literature to the corporate world, and most recently, to training with Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, renowned researcher and author of The Body Keeps The Score as well as deepening my grief and trauma training through The National Centre for Childhood Grief. I am dedicated to ongoing professional development to provide the highest level of support to my clients.

In addition, I am an accredited, insured, and Diploma-level trained Meditation and Mindfulness Practitioner, holding professional membership with the Meditation Association of Australia. As a Coach at the Australian Centre for Meditation and Mindfulness and a 2023 Local Business Awards winner, I integrate mindfulness and meditation into my therapeutic work, supporting individuals in navigating stress, trauma, grief, and emotional well-being.

I am especially dedicated to the mental wellbeing of children, teens and families, creating trustworthy environments where individuals, couples and groups can safely explore both individual emotions and interpersonal relationships. My philosophy is never to settle, but rather to embrace trauma and hardship as an opportunity to unlock potential and cultivate sustainable change. This will allow you to create your best life, no matter the challenges that come your way.
